PROJECT CREDIT_ E2O Corporate Partner M+W Zander Group (Stuttgart Office in Germany) |
PROJECT SCOPE_ M+W Zander originally provided satellite assembly facilities at this site in 1984 and in 1996 were appointed to expand the facilities to increase the height of the high-bay assembly halls. This was required in order to accommodate the complete assembly of a second stage of the new satellite. The function of the facility is to provide final assembly of satellites built under a European Space Agency (ESA) program to serve broadcast and telecommunications. The satellites assembled were for launch by Ariane from the launch site in Kourou. The facilities are broadly divided into 2 areas, pre-assembly and assembly. Both areas are classified cleanrooms; the pre-assembly hall is FS 209 Class 100,000 (ISO Class 8) and the Assembly Hall FS 209 Class 100 (ISO Class 5). M+W Zander undertook complete project responsibility including manufacture, installation and commissioning of the air handling systems and controls. |
