Karthik's interests in space are focused on satellite-based applications for communications technologies, including television broadcasting, VSAT-based applications, and widespread consumer-driven adoption of applications such as GPS, Radio, and 'low earth orbit'-based broadband. Karthik returned to India in March 2006, after spending seven years in the USA, five of which were spent working in financial services firms in New York and San Francisco. Upon his return, he headed up the media & telecom practice at SSKI Investment Banking, a boutique advisory firm in Mumbai before accepting the role of SVP, Business Development at one of India's leading newspaper publication houses - Deccan Chronicle Holdings Ltd. He currently works with the Times Group (Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd.), India's largest media company, as a senior executive with their Private Treaties Division - a unique concept engineered by the Times Group to provide Brand Capital for emerging brands.
While in the US, Karthik was a Business Development and Project Management executive at Instinet Corporation, a Reuters firm that was a leader in providing electronic trading solutions in equity markets, prior to its acquisition by NASDAQ in mid 2005. Before his 3-year stint at Instinet, Karthik was a Technology & Telecom Investment Banking Associate at ABN Amro, San Francisco. Karthik obtained his MBA from the Wharton School in 2001 after spending 3 years at American Express Bank, Mumbai, where he structured financial products for India's leading corporations. Karthik also has an Industrial Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee and a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. |
