Sanket is an entrepreneurial young architect with a passion for space exploration. He is the recipient of the prestigious COSPAR Scholarship [2007] awarded by the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), the Lord’s Foundation Scholarship [2008] for Research Excellence and the Young Architect of the Year Award [2002] from TeamTAD and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur.

Sanket brings with him a strong cross-disciplinary research experience in architecture, systems engineering and design. He has worked on Moon-Mars habitation design projects in Germany, served as a collaborative researcher on a project related to radiation shielding of spacecrafts at the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) in Russia. He is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Space Architecture Technical Committee and chairs the subcommittee on Human Factors.

Sanket will be graduating in Space Studies this summer from the International Space University (ISU) in France. He holds a Baccalaureate in Architecture from Bangalore University in India. He is also currently enrolled in the Astronautical Engineering MS/PhD program at University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. At ISU, Sanket has played a lead role in the setting up of the Concurrent Engineering Facility by the European Space Agency (ESA). At USC, he serves as the Business Operations Manager for LEAPFROG, the only student team to be invited for the Google Lunar X-Prize competition.

Sanket enjoys playing the ‘tabla’ and has been awarded the Sangeet Bhushan, a professional degree in Indian Classical Music, equivalent to a PhD, from Shantiniketan and Chandigarh University.

When not working, Sanket loves to teach kids and write on contemporary issues.
