_ Dr. CVS Prakash, VP - Remote Sensing & GIS
Dr. CVS Prakash is an expert in Remote Sensing Systems and Data Processing with more than 34 years of experience. He served as Head, Image Processing Systems Division at Space Applications Center, Ahmedabad for 23 years where novel techniques for processing complex remotely sensed data was developed in his division for the Remote Sensing payloads developed by SAC for Airborne scanners, Bhaskara, Rohini and IRS series of satellites. He worked on newer techniques that were in vogue with parallel processing of data on array processors, distributed processors and new display devices. The first Unix based Data Products generation system for IRS 1C was developed under his guidance and installed at a defense facility in Delhi.

Having his PhD in applied mathematics from IIT, Bombay, he had his Masters from Bangalore University. His basic training on Image Processing was at CNES, France and training on VMS operating system at DEC facilities in Bedford, US.

He moved to Antrix Corporation Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO in 1998 and served as Director, International Marketing for 11 years. During this period, he marketed more than 15 ground receiving stations around the world for reception and processing of IRS data. Two major end to end ground receiving stations and associated processing systems for IRS was established under his leadership, one in Tehran and another in Algeria. He has worked in collaboration with erstwhile Space Imaging, USA and Seaspace Corporation, USA to establish stations in many parts of the world. He has travelled to many countries for business purposes and some of them are Russia, USA, Australia, Myanmar, Thailand, Japan and Germany.

He has many publications of his work on Image Processing. He guided a student for a PhD in Management related to the estimation of global remote sensing market.
